2006 Star of the West Contest Rules / Registration Form
- The deadline for submissions for the Contest
is July 10th, 2006. We must receive your
submission by this date. (Late submissions
may be accepted in our sole and absolute
discretion.)
- Only solo singer's 18
years of age or
older may enter-no groups
or bands.
- There is a $50 processing fee for each
contestant. This fee is non-refundable and
must be paid upon submitting your entry.
- Every entry will go through a scoring
system and the top 5 will compete live for
the grand prize.
- The decisions of the
judges are final.
- Entries will be submitted
on an audio
CD (no tapes or records)
or uploaded to our
website as .mp3 files.
Each entry must consist
of two (2) songs - 1 original
of your own
composing and 1 popular
song.
- The final audition will
be promoted as
family entertainment. Please
refrain from
the use of offensive lyrics
or costuming.
- Those selected to compete
in the final
audition will receive 2
complimentary tickets.
- The Contest is open
to *amateur performers
only!!!
- The contestants will
be judged on vocal
ability, delivery, stage
presence and overall
star quality.
- Performances will be
scheduled for the
"Star of the West"
winner pursuant
to an agreement that must
be signed by the
winner and the Contest
producer. All awards
(including prize money,
record contract and
any other prize) will be
subject to meeting
the appearance schedule
as set forth in such
agreement. The failure
to meet these obligations
may result in forfeiture
of any and all awards.
- Contestants must be
available to perform
in the final audition on
August 8, 2006.
Hotel accommodations will
be provided along
with a $200 dollar travel
allotment.
* Note: For the purpose
of this competition,
an "amateur"
performer is defined
as a person who:
- has not made over $2000 in the past year
(2005) for performing;
- has published a song
written or co-written
by such person; and
- is not a party to a performance contract
(for over $2000).
GRAND PRIZE:
- 1: A fully produced album
consisting of at
least 12 songs arranged
by top studio musicians,
Star of the West staff
will determine what
songs are to be recorded
and make any and
all determinations relative
to the artistic
nature of all aspects of
such album. The
winner will receive 300
CDs of the album.
- $1,000 Cash Prize (subject to forfeiture
for failure to perform or meet apperance
schedules)
- Performances will be
scheduled to promote
Star of the West Contest.

All entry materials become
property of Star
of the West and will not
be returned. (Do
not send us your only copy.)
Disqualifications: We reserve
the right to
disqualify and/or exclude,
in our sole and
absolute discretion, any
individual from
the Contest for any reason
or for no reason
at all, including without
limitation, violation
of any portion of these
rules, or tampering
with the entry process
or the audition process.
We also reserve the right
to change the rules
and procedures at any time.
General Conditions: By
participating, entrants
agree to be bound by these
rules and the
decisions of the producers,
the voting audience,
and the panel of judges,
which shall be final
and binding. Your submission
of an entry
to the Contest and your
presence at any audition
for the Contest, including
the final audition,
and the presence of your
friends, family
members, and anyone else
accompanying you,
constitutes your and their
consent and agreement
to the recording and use
of your and their
performance, appearance,
name, voice, singing
voice, likeness and any
musical or sound
effects produced by you
and/or them for use
in connection with any
broadcast through
any media, including television,
motion picture
or the Internet for all
purposes (including
advertising, marketing,
promotion, merchandising
and the exploitation of
any and all ancillary
and subsidiary rights),
as the same may be
edited, in all media now
known or hereafter
created, throughout the
universe, in perpetuity
for no compensation, unless
otherwise required
by law. Your and/or their
presence will be
conclusively deemed to
be a waiver of any
and all claims for invasion
of privacy, defamation,
etc. All federal, state
and local laws apply.
All dates and locations
set for the Contest
are subject to change.
Star of the West LLC
and the production personnel
for the contest,
and any participating broadcast
stations,
advertising agencies or
any person or entity
connected with the production,
administration
or judging in connection
with the Contest,
or any of their respective
parent companies,
affiliates, subsidiaries,
agents or representatives
are not responsible for
and shall not be
liable for: (i) any internet
or other technical
failure that prevents a
timely submission;
or (ii) any injuries, losses
or damages of
any kind caused by traveling
to or from any
event associated with the
Contest, being
present at any such event,
participating
in the auditioning process
or being selected
to or disqualified from
the Contest.
